How to improve time management for studies and in life generally

How to improve time management
1. I used to maintain a 24-hour printed log book (for whole preparation leave period) to update on whatever I am doing in a 30-minute time frame. What I have always heard from others and realised myself also is that we don’t know how did time elapse or what we did in it. This log book helped me in being conscious about what I am doing with my time. I tried updating it as frequently as possible to ensure that I record the most accurate data.
2. Once you start updating it, you will become more accountable and responsible for your time. And thus, less inclined to waste it.
3. Once updated for a few weeks, do some data analytics of remarks on usage. Try to observe patterns for identifying when you are most inclined to give up studying or where you are doing an unproductive activity for a prolong period of time.
4. Then try to find reasons for doing that particular activity which is not helping you in achieving your goal. What I observed was – I was taking too long to start studying after waking up and too long to go to sleep after stopping my study session for that day. Then I tried to pin point on the activities that were taking that time and try to either remove them or reduce there duration so as to increase my overall study time.
5. Also try to observe those activities that leads you to leave your study table. Find reasons for the same and write possible solutions.
Example-
* You suddenly remember about the need of doing a task (which is not urgent). You get up and the pace of study break. A possible solution can be you write that task in notepad near you and check it when your study session is done.
* Bored by one subject. Solution – Change subjects after 3 hours.
* Feeling drowsy. Solution – Walk, wash face or change subject
* Taking break. Solution – Use a 5- or 10-minute timer
* Calling a friend in between of a study session for a doubt . Solution- Write it in a doubt book and ask all doubts of the day/week collectively.
6. This log book will help you in identifying which sleep patterns suits you the most and thus helps in studying higher number of hours.
7. Also try to observe when your concentration power is the most and when it is the least. Plan your subjects or study sessions accordingly.
8. If you find that you have to spend a lot of time doing household activities or it takes you a lot of time to fall asleep , try to hear audio clips or revision videos in that time.
9. You can use a 12-hour study with me pomodoro video on Youtube which has a background music that improves concentration. I used to listen to it with my Bluetooth earphone, my phone used to be locked and kept away from my study table. I didn’t use to see the video. My main aim was to have scheduled break to achieve high levels of concentration and engagement in studies.
10. You can do all kind of data analysis once you have the data. Data is supreme. Data is king. If you use this diligently, I am sure you will excel in time management.
